Julianne McCobin studies twentieth- and twenty-first century American literature and culture, broadly defined. Her dissertation-in-progress, Emotional States, connects increasing cultural anxiety around feeling management to contemporary literary treatments of unfeelingness, moodiness, and emotional extremes.
