(as in from the Civil War, from World War II, etc.). My World War II has been in print,  for 29 years but in greatly expanded form these days. It just went back to print in March 2018.

*Numerous articles published in magazines ranging from Reader’s Digest to Friends,

Lufthanza Air Line in-flight magazine and UVA alumni magazine. Booklet for Alderman Library and UVA English Department on the University’s 20th century writers –in-residence.  Also, bi-monthly back page “Best Little Stories” column for Military History magazine for 11 years, 1995-2005/6.

*Short fiction published in Yankee, Twilight Zone, Fantasy & Science Fiction, Cats magazines.

     *Lectured at week-long seminar on Winston Churchill jointly sponsored by the University of Virginia and Oxford University and held at Merton College, Oxford, summer of 2007 (resulting in publication of our anecdotal biography, Best Little Stories from the Life and Times of Winston Churchill, Sourcebooks, 2008) .

     *UVA adult instruction, 1980’s, 2-3 sessions, narrative writing     

 

Other Outside Activities:   

     *Former Vice President, Program Chair and Shakespeare Contest Coordinator, Charlottesville Branch, English-Speaking Union of the United States. (The Shakespeare reference is to an annual recitation contest for high school students sponsored by ESU branches across the nation.)

 

Military Service

    *Airman 3rd Class, USAF Reserves, 1958-1960; Second/then 1st Lt., Virginia Air National Guard; as such, one of two public information officers the Pentagon sent to Europe to publicize the Air National Guard’s units deployed in response to the Berlin Wall crisis of 1961.

    

Personal: Married to Ingrid Smyer-Kelly; seven children and 16 grandchildren between us.   (end)
